Thurmont Thespians, Inc., a non-profit corporation chartered in Maryland.
The Thurmont Thespians were founded in 1998 by Beth Royer Watson. Creating a summer workshop focused on teaching all aspects of theater to children and teens had been a dream of hers for many years. The dream was realized as the Thurmont Thespians. Each year a summer music theater workshop is presented for children and teens. The workshop culminates in a weekend of performances.
The Thespians were founded upon three principles:
The summer workshop is open to teens and children at no cost.
Everyone who auditions and attends rehearsals gets an onstage role.
The actors learn about a local charity, and all of the profits from the performances are donated to the charity.
The Thurmont Thespians are generously supported by St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Thurmont, Maryland, which provides rehearsal and performance space.
